After many many years of seeing different therapist or councilors and trying to ‘struggle through’ with daily anxiety and long periods of overwhelming panic I knew I needed to do something.
I needed to find someone who specialises in anxiety and panic, and that’s when I found NOSA, and James.
He took the time to ring and get to know me before booking our initial first meeting. James made me feel so comfortable and trusting in his knowledge and abilities, without it feeling like I was just another client, but someone he took the time to listen to and understand. He challenged me, but at my own pace and was able to show me how our automatic thinking can be reversed and you can live a life free from anxiety.
It took some time, and was not all plain sailing, but James was so accommodating and I really felt I had someone on my side really routing for me.
We started with James saying to me- when we finish I want you to be able to be your own therapist, and I can say that I am.

I started therapy sessions with James after a year of particularly bad anxiety and OCD which lead me to feel depressed and I was struggling to continue running my business. From the first session I felt supported and listened to. My daughter suffered anixety from the lockdown and after trying tablets from the doctors and four other therapists we could hardly get her out of the house.
Within 4 weeks David had her going out on a regular basis and attending school fully.
Now after 3 months she is completely back to normal, no longer taking tablets and able to deal with her anixety.

did this place help yes, after being quite indecisive about talking to someone, i finally took the plunge, NOSA were very helpful and understanding they gave me help in understanding things, being able to put things into a better thinking perspective, making me realise i had been trapped in a certain way of thinking for a period of time, am i cured now of all the negativity? no i do still get bad days? yes, but these days i can i am able to deal with things alot better than what i used to.
my only problem with the service was there were no evening appointments available, this would of been a nice option to of had

This was my first experience of therapy and it was a really helpful and positive experience. I came into the service knowing I was experiencing really intense anxiety and frequent anxiety attacks – I had no idea why or what was causing this. James helped me identify the root cause of these issues and really understand what was going on – this on its own was really helpful for me. Since childhood I’ve experienced fear of heights which worsened into a phobia as I got older. Experiencing panic whilst driving in high places began to make my world smaller – I found myself unable to drive over bridges and avoiding routes where I knew I would be at height. This was affecting my work and personal life, with my friends and family having to accommodate my safety behaviours.
Working with James was absolutely the best experience. His approach has been supportive and reassuring, helping me not only to feel at ease but also to feel hopeful that I could make the changes I wanted to.
With James’s help I was able to set goals and create a plan of how to achieve them, to understand and challenge my behaviours and feelings. The approach was very practical; both in session and for homework I was making visits to all the highest places in Bristol.
I cannot recommend NOSA enough for anyone who is looking to access CBT. I am now feeling more confident with heights and with James’s support I have been able to drive over the Severn Bridge for the first time in 14years!
